Capt. Lew Marshall a
Florida native and third generation South Florida angler was born and
raised in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. The fishing bug began with his
Grandparents. When not running their Spring-Break “hot spot” the Elbo
Room, they would fish the blue waters off Ft Lauderdale, the Bahamas and
the Florida Keys on their boat appropriately named the “Elbo Room Too”.
When the Gulfstream wasn’t producing, it was off to the back country of
the Ten Thousand Islands. Fishing was instilled in Capt Lew’s life as a
youngster as he often joined his grandparents and parents on these
trips.
Later in his
youth, Capt Lew picked up another passion and spent 20 years as a competitive water skier.
He was chided by his fellow skiers because he often carried water skis
and fishing rods to tournaments. Water skiers and anglers were often
severe adversaries in those days.
After receiving his BS and MBA degrees
from Florida Southern College, Capt. Lew hung up the water skis but
continued to pursue his love of fishing.
Now living on Florida’s Central West
Coast, Capt. Lew has spent the last 35 years fishing the Ten Thousand
Islands, Pine island Sound and Charlotte Harbor areas of Southwest
Florida.
Along with his wife Jody, an avid
fly angler
in her own right, Capt. Lew created Top Shelf Outfitters to share their
passion for the outdoors, being on the water and the pursuit of
responsible anglin
g.
